About Our Church

Welcome to St. Mary's

St. Mary's Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Church Wagga Wagga is a parish of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, one of the Oriental Orthodox churches with its headquarters in Kerala, India. Our parish serves the Indian Orthodox Christian community in Wagga Wagga and surrounding areas.

The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was founded by St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, who came to India in A.D. 52. For nearly two millennia, this apostolic church has preserved the authentic faith and traditions of early Christianity.

In Australia, our churches come under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Diocese, led by His Grace Dr. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros. Our community is dedicated to maintaining our rich spiritual heritage while embracing our role in Australian society.

Our Services

Holy Qurbana

Join us every Sunday at 9:00 AM for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy (Holy Qurbana).

Prayer Meetings

Weekly prayer and Bible study meetings are held every Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

Special Festivals

We observe all major feast days according to the liturgical calendar of the Malankara Orthodox Church.

Our Faith

The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church upholds the faith defined by the first three Ecumenical Councils. We believe in the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and affirm the Nicene Creed as the symbol of our faith.

Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, interpreted within the living Tradition of the Church.

Sacraments

We celebrate seven sacraments as sacred mysteries through which God's grace is conveyed to the faithful.

Holy Tradition

We preserve the apostolic traditions passed down from generation to generation since the time of Christ.
